Recap: Liberty Common Eagles vs. Sterling Tigers
The Liberty Common Eagles lost against the Sterling Tigers back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Liberty Common took a 55-41 bruising from Sterling. Liberty Common has struggled against Sterling recently, as their game on Wednesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Max Frevert and Pierce Richardson certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Frevert scored 11 points along with eight rebounds, while Richardson scored eight points. Frevert also posted two blocks for the first time this season.
Sterling's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dayten DiOrio, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The contest was DiOrio's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ethan Thyne, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Liberty Common has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Sterling, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty Common will challenge Berthoud at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sterling, they will head out on the road to face off against Highland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Highland's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
