Baseball Game Preview: Classical Academy Caimans vs. Ridgeview Wolf Pack

The Classical Academy Caimans will square off against the Ridgeview Wolf Pack at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

Classical Academy is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Maranatha Christian just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 5-4.

Adam Hukill was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits.

On the hitting side, Sammy McNemar was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Dylan Perry also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Ridgeview and Independence meet (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Wolf Pack sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Falcons.

Joel Gutierrez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Edwin Hidalgo, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

Ridgeview's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Classical Academy, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-8.
