Softball Recap: Exeter Township Sets Scoring Season-High Against Reading

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Exeter Township). They never let the Reading Red KNights get on the board and left with a 19-0 win on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Cheyenne Boyles was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Mackenzie O'Brien was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those RBI were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jadee Ruiz-Ravelo, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs.

Exeter Township always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Exeter Township's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-6. As for Reading, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Coming up, Exeter Township will look to defend their home field on Friday against Muhlenberg at 4:00 p.m. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Muhls have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season. As for Reading, they will head out on the road to square off against Wilson at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
