The biggest upset of the week belonged to Elida, who took down 66th ranked Celina, 32-9.
Ottawa-Glandorf extended the longest winning streak in Western Buckeye this week by beating Bath, 54-14. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.
Kenton's dynamic duo of Grant Sherman and Colyn Blackford proved tough for Defiance to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Sherman threw for 454 yards and five touchdowns and Blackford had 125 yards receiving. Justin Sawmiller helped Kenton's passing attack out by catching 11 balls for 122 yards.
Doug Sanders was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 46 yards on 26 carries as the Wildcats bested the Bulldogs. Teammate Keanu James added to the ground attack by rushing for 19 yards.
Joey Halker made the biggest impact on defense this week as Bath fell to Ottawa-Glandorf. The 5-foot-9 senior recorded one fumble.
Kenton's Sherman and Sawmiller have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Sherman has thrown for 3737 yards this season, while Sawmiller, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 118 catches for 1744 yards. Chris Miller's team's Sanders leads the league in rushing yards with 1052.
Going into this week's game against the Bulldogs, the Wildcats' Sanders needs 18 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season. So far this year, Sanders has thrown for 1982 yards with 15 touchdowns and 17 interceptions.
A big matchup in Western Buckeye this week will be when Mike Mauk's team takes on Wapakoneta. The Wildcats are currently in fourth, while the Redskins are in third.
Van Wert moved up to 419 from 453 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Cougars climbed the ranks as a result of topping Memorial 26-6.
