After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Port Charlotte brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They put the hurt on the Cypress Lake Panthers with a sharp 16-3 victory on Tuesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Pirates as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Brianna Weidner, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Hayden Flanagan was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

Weidner wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Port Charlotte kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-5. As for Cypress Lake, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Port Charlotte will challenge Lemon Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lemon Bay is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season. Cypress Lake will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Neumann at 7:00 p.m. on March 27th.
