Football Recap: Jaylen Davis' Menacing Defense Leads Elbert County over Commerce + How To Watch

The third road contest was the charm for Elbert County, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They came out on top against the Commerce Tigers by a score of 16-6 on Friday. This was payback for the Blue Devils, who suffered a 42-27 loss the last time these two teams met.

Elbert County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Jaylen Davis, Jose Rodriguez, and Brycin Hughes picked up one apiece. Lincoln Blackmon was another major factor on D, picking up three sacks, forcing one fumble, and making eight total tackles (5.0 for loss).

Despite the loss, Commerce still got an impressive performance from Jace Lyle, who rushed for 106 yards and one score on only ten carries.

Elbert County picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Commerce, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Elbert County will take on Providence Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Blue Devils will be up against the Storm's rather soft defense (which has allowed 35.2 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Commerce, they will challenge Rabun County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' defense has only allowed 12 points per game this season, so the Tigers' offense will have their work cut out for them.
