Baseball Recap: Stevens Find Success

Stevens lost to Sotomayor back in March of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. Stevens had just enough and edged out Sotomayor 4-3.

Adan Castillo looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Stevens' success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 3-1 (and 4-8 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Jordan Vargas was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Stevens was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Stevens' win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Sotomayor, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-5-1.

Stevens will have a chance to go back-to-back against Sotomayor: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday.
