Football Recap: Greene Central Rams vs. Midway Raiders

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Greene Central had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by the Midway Raiders to the tune of 41-6. The score was close at the half, but the Rams pulled away in the second half with 33 points.

Greene Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reggie Sutton, who rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Sutton got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 70 yards. Dejuan Cobb was another key back, rushing for 75 yards and a touchdown.

Greene Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 216 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2023.

Greene Central didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Michael Suggs Jr. and Nicholas Avent. Tyler Williams was another major factor on D, picking up two sacks, making 11 total tackles (4.5 for loss), and defending a pass.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Greene Central, bringing their record for this year to 7-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 29.0 points per game. As for Midway, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-3.

Greene Central will take on Northeastern at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Northeastern knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Greene Central likes a good challenge. Midway does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
