Baseball Recap: Estancia Comes Up Short

Estancia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Century Centurions. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Centurions earlier this season, when they won 7-2.

Vaughn McCrea spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Estancia saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sawyer Atkinson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Estancia's defeat dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Century, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Centurions beat Estancia by a score of 1-0 on Thursday.
