Softball Recap: Jennings Gets the Win

Jennings won the last time they faced Westlake and things went their way on Thursday too. The Bulldogs walked away with a 10-7 win over the Rams.

Jenna Morvant spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Madeleine Person, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Emma Venable was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Person wasn't the only one making solid contact: Jennings kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matchups.

Jennings' record is now 11-7. As for Westlake, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-13.

Coming up, Jennings will head out to square off against St. Edmund at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs are facing the Fighting Blue Jays at the right time seeing as the Fighting Blue Jays are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Westlake, they will be playing in front of their home fans against DeRidder at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rams' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Dragons have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
