Basketball Recap: Hoosac Valley Takes a Loss

Hoosac Valley lost against Monument Mountain back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Hoosac Valley Hurricanes took a blow against the Monument Mountain Spartans, falling 86-50. While losing is never fun, the Hurricanes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 149th, while the Spartans are ranked 29th).

Despite the defeat, Hoosac Valley saw an underclassman step up: freshman Tre Moynihan posted 18 points. Moynihan's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Hoosac Valley dropped their record down to 6-8 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Monument Mountain, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Granby the next time they take the court. Hoosac Valley will head out to face Granby at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Monument Mountain will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
