The Environmental Charter White Tigers waltzed into Wednesday's game with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 59-52 victory over Hawthorne Math & Science Academy. That's another feather in the cap for Environmental Charter, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Nick Motta was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with 3 steals. The contest was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayshin Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Hawthorne Math & Science Academy had strong showings from Troy Stuart, who scored 19 points, and Kyron Blanchette, who scored 17 points. Stuart scored a full 36.5% of Hawthorne Math & Science Academy's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Ekene Madu was another key contributor, scoring 6 points.
Environmental Charter's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points per game. As for Hawthorne Math & Science Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Environmental Charter's road trip will continue as they head out to face Vistamar at 5:30 p.m. on November 30th. Vistamar presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Environmental Charter in California (Vistamar is ranked 309th, while Environmental Charter is ranked 673rd). As for Hawthorne Math & Science Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Wildwood at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
