Soccer Game Preview: Johnson vs. Steele

The Johnson Jaguars will face off against the Steele Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Johnson's victory against Judson wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Johnson's defense stepped up to hand Judson a 1-0 shutout on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Jaguars.

Meanwhile, Steele came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Cougars. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Cougars are ranked 327th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Darriyn Morales and Marcos Zuazu scored all three of Steele's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 31 goals.

The victory got Johnson back to even at 8-8-3. As for Steele, their win bumped their record up to 13-2-3.
