Hanahan beats Philip Simmons for their third straight win

The Hanahan Hawks had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Philip Simmons 37-34. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hanahan to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kevon Rivera, who rushed for 237 yards and two touchdowns. Rivera is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. Hanahan also got help from Dru Goldsmith who showed off his sure hands for 84 receiving yards.

Philip Simmons' lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being TROY STEVENSON, who picked up 166 receiving yards and four touchdowns. STEVENSON's longest reception was for an incredible 75 yards. Another player making a difference was Markellis "kj" Asbury, who rushed for 121 yards and a touchdown.

Hanahan is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. As for Philip Simmons, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-1.

Hanahan will take on Beaufort at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Jadyn Andrews and Rivera. As for Philip Simmons, they will head out on the road to face off against Battery Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Battery Creek: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while Philip Simmons has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
