            Baseball Recap: Mercer Island Islanders vs. Newport - Bellevue Knights        
        
		
        
        
            After losing to Newport - Bellevue the last time they met, Mercer Island decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Islanders had just enough and edged out the Knights  4-2. The  win made it back-to-back  victories for the Islanders.

 Will Turba spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two  runs (both of which were unearned)  on three hits. He also  tossed  no  earned runs, which is notable because Mercer Island is 2-1 when he allows at  most  one  earned run, but 2-7 otherwise.
 On the hitting side,  James Mangold was  excellent,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-4. That's the most  hits  he has posted since back in May of 2024.  Tyler Williamson also deserves some recognition as  he  snagged his first  stolen base of the season.
Mercer Island's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Newport - Bellevue,  they are  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 1-12.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mercer Island will take on Bothell at 6:30  p.m.  on Monday. As for Newport - Bellevue, they will face off against Skyline at 4:00  p.m.  on Monday.
