Football Game Preview: Santa Fe Indians vs. Iowa Colony Pioneers

After each having a week off, the Santa Fe Indians and the Iowa Colony Pioneers will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Santa Fe is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

Santa Fe will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Fort Bend Marshall, who they had gone 0-7 against in their seven prior meetings. The Indians snuck past the Buffalos with a 17-13 victory last Friday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Indians' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 359th, while the Buffalos are ranked 135th).

Meanwhile, Iowa Colony started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Randle. They took a 49-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions last Thursday. The Pioneers were up 21-0 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Santa Fe will need to focus on slowing down Carson White, one of several Iowa Colony players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 89 yards and four TDs, and also threw for 195 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Aaron Tenner was another key player, rushing for 194 yards while picking up 9.2 yards per carry.

Santa Fe's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Iowa Colony, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 4-1.

Santa Fe was dealt a bruising 41-7 defeat at the hands of Iowa Colony when the teams last played back in October of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Indians were down 20-0.
