Recap: Purdue Polytechnic Techies vs. Indianapolis Washington Continentals
After a string of three wins, the Purdue Polytechnic Techies's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Indianapolis Washington by a score of 41-39. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Purdue Polytechnic has scored all season.
Purdue Polytechnic lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Derrick Johnson, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Devin Chase, who scored seven points.
Clem Butler was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds for Indianapolis Washington. The team also got some help courtesy of Dave Leye, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Purdue Polytechnic's defeat dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Indianapolis Washington, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Purdue Polytechnic will challenge Covenant Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Covenant Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 221st, while Purdue Polytechnic is ranked 91st). As for Indianapolis Washington, they will head out on the road to face off against Indianapolis Arsenal Technical at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Indianapolis Arsenal Technical knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Indianapolis Washington likes a good challenge.
