Softball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Tolono Unity's 14th in Last 15 Outings

Tolono Unity had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Maroa-Forsyth on Thursday. The Rockets were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Trojans. The result was nothing new for the Rockets, who have now won 18 matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Lindy Bates made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Danika Eisenmenger looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Tolono Unity got a massive performance out of Korina Finical, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Finical a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jenna Adkins, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Tolono Unity has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Maroa-Forsyth, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-13 record this season.

Tolono Unity will challenge Freeburg on Saturday. Maroa-Forsyth does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
