Softball Recap: 11 Straight Home Wins for Ridgefield

There's no place like home for Ridgefield, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Battle Ground Tigers on Monday. This was payback for the Spudders, who suffered a 7-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Faith Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tava Whitlow, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Wolski, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Ridgefield pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Battle Ground, they now have a losing record of 2-3-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ridgefield will take on Washougal at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.5 runs per game on average), something the Spudders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Battle Ground, they will welcome Prairie at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
