Softball Game Preview: Frisco Raccoons vs. Independence Knights

The Frisco Raccoons will venture away from home to square off against the Independence Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Frisco has three straight victories, Independence has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Frisco is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 14-2 margin over Heritage on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Leila Hathaway was a standout: she scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailee Hodnett, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Independence lost 7-1 to Liberty on Friday.

Stormy DANIEL made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run.

Independence's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Frisco, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9-1.

Everything went Frisco's way against Independence in their previous meeting back in April of 2022, as Frisco made off with a 12-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Frisco since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
