Football Recap: Chrishon Fogle Leads Ansonia's Defense on Friday + How To Watch

Ansonia won against Watertown last Friday with 42 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Chargers didn't even let the Derby Red Raiders on the board, marking the Chargers' second-straight 42-0 shutout. The Chargers' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Ansonia found their leader in sophomore Tymir Taylor, who rushed for 133 yards and three scores on only 12 carries.

Ansonia's run defense was locked in: Derby could only muster 3.3 yards per carry. The Chargers didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.9.

Ansonia didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Chrishon Fogle, Tayvon Long, and Daniel Ayala picked up one apiece.

Ansonia has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.2 points on average over those games. As for Derby, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Ansonia and Derby will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Chargers see the field they'll take on Naugatuck at 10:00 a.m. on the 27th. As for Derby, their break will end when they face Oxford at 10:00 a.m. on the 27th.
