Basketball Recap: Woodville-Tompkins Wolverines vs. Groves Rebels
Woodville-Tompkins was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 44-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Groves Rebels. The Wolverines were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rebels apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Despite the loss, Woodville-Tompkins still got an impressive performance from Cassidy Freeman, who posted 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and four blocks. Another player making a difference was Leiera Pusha, who earned eight points.
Aniyah Wright was her usual excellent self, posting 14 points for Groves. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinity Morris, who scored nine points.
Woodville-Tompkins' loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Groves, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Woodville-Tompkins didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-29 defeat against Bradwell Institute on the 25th. Groves has also already played their next contest, a 55-35 loss against Statesboro on the 23rd.
