Basketball Game Preview: Pearsall Mavericks vs. Devine Warhorses

The Pearsall Mavericks will head out to take on the Devine Warhorses at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Pearsall knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Devine likes a good challenge.

On Tuesday, Pearsall didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Pleasanton, but they still walked away with a 63-57 victory.

Meanwhile, Devine lost to Somerset on the road by a 57-40 margin on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Warhorses can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 770th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 277th).

Pearsall's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points per game. As for Devine, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-16.

Pearsall was able to grind out a solid victory over Devine when the teams last played on January 7th, winning 98-90. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pearsall since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
