Basketball Recap: Ouray Starts off Right with Win over Monticello + How To Watch

Ouray gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They walked away with a 43-36 win over the Monticello Buckaroo. This was payback for the Trojans, who suffered a 46-34 loss the last time these two teams met.

Ouray had a senior duo take command as Conner Hill went 7-for-9 en route to 17 points and seven boards and Cavan Pasek shot 42% from the field to rack up 12 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. Another player making a difference was Wesley Rhoades, who posted eight points.

Despite the defeat, Monticello saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kord Young shot 40% from the field on his way to 16 points. Cache Young was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Monticello now has a losing record of 1-2.

Ouray has already played their next contest, a 58-29 victory against West Grand on the 5th. As for Monticello, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-52 loss against Olathe on the 6th.
