Basketball Recap: Ouray Starts Season with Victory at Home + How To Watch

Ouray gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They came out on top against the Monticello Buckaroo by a score of 43-36. For the Trojans, this counts as revenge for the 46-34 win the Buckaroo walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2024.

Ouray had a senior duo take command as Conner Hill shot 78% from the field to rack up 17 points and seven boards and Cavan Pasek went 5-for-12 en route to 12 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. Wesley Rhoades was another key player, putting up eight points.

Despite the loss, Monticello still got an impressive performance from Kord Young, who went 6-for-15 on his way to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cache Young, who posted 12 points.

Monticello now has a losing record of 1-2.

Ouray has already played their next contest, a 58-29 victory against West Grand on the 5th. As for Monticello, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-52 defeat against Olathe on the 6th.
