Football Game Preview: Southwestern Trojans vs. Medina Mustangs + Official Tickets

The Southwestern Trojans will square off against the Medina Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Southwestern sitting on eight straight victories and Medina on three.

Southwestern is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Trojans blew the Herds out of the water with a 49-0 final score. Considering the Trojans have won seven games by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Bradyn Fuller continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 240 yards and three scores on only 15 carries. Fuller is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 117 every time he's taken the field this season. Trent Lewis was another key player, rushing for 34 yards and one TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Southwestern was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 275 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 266 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.

Another reason for the win was Southwestern's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. They got some further help from Brayden Potter: he picked up a sack and made five total tackles in addition to snagging an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, in a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Medina made off with a 27-26 win over Batavia.

Southwestern's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Medina, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
