Soccer Game Preview: Monacan vs. Courtland

The Monacan Chiefs are taking a road trip to take on the Courtland Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Monacan will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Monacan is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Henrico with a sharp 6-1 win. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Monacan's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Henrico are ranked 244th).

Meanwhile, Courtland might've scored the first goal on Friday, but it was Chancellor who claimed the real prize. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the Chargers who were credited with the victory. Chancellor got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Courtland's two.

Monacan's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those four matchups. As for Courtland, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-4-2.
