Softball Game Preview: Middlebury Tigers vs. Mt. Mansfield Cougars

Middlebury is a perfect 4-0 against Mt. Mansfield since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Tigers will head out to face off against the Cougars at 4:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

On Thursday, Middlebury came up short against Bellows Free Academy and fell 7-3. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Bobwhites/Comets: they've now lost six in a row.

Meanwhile, Mt. Mansfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 18th straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 12-8 to U-32.

Norah Ades was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Sofie Bush, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Mt. Mansfield's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Middlebury, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Middlebury was able to grind out a solid win over Mt. Mansfield in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 7-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
