Softball Recap: Plant City Raiders vs. Spoto Spartans

Plant City got themselves on the board against Spoto on Tuesday, but Spoto never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Spoto Spartans with a sharp 18-0 win. Fans of the Raiders have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Kayleigh Gibbs was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Gibbs was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Plant City let Samantha Raines and Summer Castro run wild. Raines scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2, while Castro went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. What's more, Castro posted two hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Taylor Sher, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Plant City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spoto only posted an OBP of .100.
