Basketball Recap: Fitzgerald Continues Home Dominance on Monday

Fitzgerald hadn't done well against Edison Academy recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The stars were shining brightly for the Fitzgerald Spartans in a 61-47 victory over the Edison Academy Pioneers. For the Spartans, this counts as revenge for the 50-42 win the Pioneers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Edison Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being David Hemphill, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Edgar Hubbard, who posted 16 points.

Fitzgerald pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.5 points per game. As for Edison Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
