Recap: Stockbridge Tigers vs. Union Grove Wolverines
After a string of five wins, the Stockbridge Tigers's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 46-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Union Grove. While losing is never fun, Stockbridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while Union Grove is ranked seventh).
When it comes to explaining why Stockbridge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Carrington Wilson. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Wilson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kahli Ingram, who scored ten points.
Stockbridge struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Union Grove pulled down 17 offensive rebounds.
It was another big night for Jordan Brooks, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and three steals for Union Grove. Brooks has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Mariah Miller was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals and two blocks.
Stockbridge's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Union Grove, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-1.
Stockbridge on the road again on Monday and play against Hebron Christian at 3:30 p.m. on January 15th. Hebron Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Union Grove, they will be playing at home against Warner Robins at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
