Rio Mesa had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victors by a 69-44 margin over the Channel Islands Raiders on Friday. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Channel Islands' defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2.

Rio Mesa has already played their next matchup, a 72-68 loss against Santa Paula on the 22nd. As for Channel Islands, they will face off against Foothill Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Raiders will need to watch out since the Dragons have now posted at least 55 points in their last three games.
