Soccer Game Preview: Laurens vs. Woodmont

Laurens hasn't had much luck against Woodmont recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Raiders will take on the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Laurens took a ten-goal loss the last time they faced off against Emerald, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Raiders won by a goal and slipped past the Vikings 1-0. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Laurens were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, Woodmont came up short against Mauldin on Tuesday, falling 8-1. While losing is never fun, Woodmont can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Mauldin are ranked tenth).

This is the second loss in a row for Woodmont and nudges their season record down to 4-13. As for Laurens, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-11.

Laurens might still be hurting after the 12-0 defeat they got from Woodmont when the teams last played back in April of 2019. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
