The team relied heavily on Riley Meyers, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Naya Alastra, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
South Kitsap not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 2nd (when they won 27-4). They blew past Curtis 16-3. The win continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won seven in a row.
Joci Lee made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Maleah Sawyers was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Eva Spencer, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
South Kitsap was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .552. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
South Kitsap's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Sumner, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
South Kitsap's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Sumner has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for South Kitsap, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Sumner keep running through batters, or will the Wolves buck the trend?
