Hilltop won the last time they faced Montgomery and things went their way  on Monday too. The Lancers put the hurt on the Aztecs with a sharp  11-3 victory. The  win made it back-to-back  victories for the Lancers.
 Catherine Vasquez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered  just two earned  (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks.
 On the hitting side,  Nevaeh Matos and  Olivia Mertz did most of the damage at the plate:  Matos  went 3-for-5 with four  RBI, two  runs,  and two  doubles, while  Mertz  went 3-for-4 with three  stolen bases and three  runs. Mertz is  on a roll when it comes to  stolen bases, as she's  now  snagged  at least one in each of the last three games she's  played.  Espy Swan-Dominguez also deserves some recognition as  she  snagged her first  stolen base of the season.
 Hilltop  hit smart and  finished the game with only two  strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters  in four consecutive  matches.
Hilltop's win was  their third straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 7-7-1. The  road  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Montgomery,  they are  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 11-8.
 Hilltop wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next  contest,  an  11-2  defeat against Clairemont on the 16th. As for Montgomery, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next  game,  a  22-5  loss against Sweetwater on the 15th.
