Basketball Game Preview: Dunbar Wildcats vs. Eastern Hills Highlanders

Dunbar and Eastern Hills are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2020, but not for long. The Dunbar Wildcats will host the Eastern Hills Highlanders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

It was a proper cat-fight when Dunbar duked it out withWestern Hills on Tuesday. Dunbar enjoyed a cozy 69-54 victory over Western Hills.

Meanwhile, Eastern Hills entered their tilt with Carter-Riverside on Tuesday with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 79-18 win over the Eagles. With the Highlanders ahead 41-4 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Eastern Hills' win came from a few key players Dunbar will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Dorian Johnson, who made all 7 shots he took to post 14 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. He has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Trey Talton, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 12 points in addition to seven assists and seven boards.

Eastern Hills is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.6 points per game. As for Dunbar, their victory bumped their record up to 11-14.

Things could have been worse for Dunbar, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 68-49 loss to Eastern Hills in their previous meeting on January 7th. Can Dunbar avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
