Basketball Recap: Decatur Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Decatur had won six straight games and Jason Welborn did his part to make it seven on Tuesday. The Decatur Bulldogs walked away with a 50-43 victory over the Shiloh Generals thanks in part to Welborn, who went 12 of 21 on his way to 30 points and eight rebounds. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Beard, who posted three points and five blocks. He has been hot, having posted two or more blocks the last six times he's played.

Shiloh's loss came despite strong showings from Bryce Fraley and Christian Smith. Fraley put up nine points, while Smith had 11 points and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Fraley a new career-high in steals (two). Another player making a difference was Isaiah Johnson, who posted seven points.

Decatur pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Shiloh, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Decatur will host Woodward Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Woodward Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 14 matchups -- so hopefully Decatur likes a good challenge. As for Shiloh, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-49 loss against Chamblee on the 9th.
