Basketball Game Preview: Lancaster Bruins vs. York Cougars

Lancaster has gone 10-0 against York recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. Both will face off at 7:30 p.m. without much rest having both just played. Lancaster knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 19 matches -- so hopefully York likes a good challenge.

On Tuesday, Lancaster beat Dreher 75-64. Given the Bruins' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while the Blue Devils are ranked 49th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lancaster's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Watford, who went 10 of 15 on his way to 24 points and five boards. The game was Watford's 15th in a row with at least ten points. Columbus Parker was another key player, going 7 for 12 en route to 19 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, York was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by South Pointe and fell 83-40. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-13.

Lancaster will need focus on slowing down Jackson Rampey, one of several York players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 11 points. The dominant performance gave Rampey a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zan Walling, who scored two points.

York's loss dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Lancaster, their victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-1.

Everything came up roses for Lancaster against York in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 63-23 win. In that contest, Lancaster amassed a halftime lead of 31-9, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Wednesday.
