Baseball Recap: St. Mary's Ryken Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

St. Mary's Ryken had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They never let the Bishop Ireton Cardinals get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Monday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 17-5 back in March.

Chase Harkness looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because St. Mary's Ryken is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Austin Michael was incredible, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Henry Moltumyr, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

St. Mary's Ryken always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win got St. Mary's Ryken back to even at 8-8. As for Bishop Ireton, their loss dropped their record down to 4-16-1.

Looking ahead, St. Mary's Ryken will face off against The Heights at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bishop Ireton, they will head out on the road to square off against Kennedy at 8:45 p.m. on Monday.
