Baseball Recap: Williams Field's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Higley typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Williams Field proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Knights by a score of 8-3. The victory was some much needed relief for the Black Hawks as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Jaxon Valdez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Malcom Harrison and Asher Landry did most of the damage at the plate: Harrison went 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple, while Landry went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave Landry a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Silas Stephens, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Williams Field's record now sits at 15-10. As for Higley, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-10.

Williams Field does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Higley, they will square off against Mountain View at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Toros will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight.
