While Mater Academy Charter's win against iMater Charter wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mater Academy Charter Lions came out on top in a nail-biter against the iMater Charter Knights on Tuesday, sneaking past 6-5. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Anthony Rodriguez looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run but no hits. He has become a key player for Mater Academy Charter: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one hit, but 2-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Eiker Noriega was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. He also put up two doubles, which were his first of the season. Jonathan Esponda was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

The win got Mater Academy Charter back to even at 5-5. As for iMater Charter, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mater Academy Charter will square off against St. Brendan at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (St. Brendan: 3.1, Mater Academy Charter: 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for iMater Charter, they are taking a road trip to square off against Goleman at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Goleman has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.71 runs per game on average), something iMater Charter will no doubt try to take advantage of.
