Baseball Recap: Covenant Christian's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Covenant Christian and McKinney Christian Academy squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Covenant Christian had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 4-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 9-6 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Stone Kruse made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. EJ Flores was another key player, earning two runs and two stolen bases.

Covenant Christian moved to 12-7-2 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for McKinney Christian Academy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 26-5.

Covenant Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for McKinney Christian Academy, they will square off against Pantego Christian at 7:00 p.m. on the 9th. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mustangs 3.5, the Panthers 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
