Baseball Recap: Channel Islands Gets the Win

The Channel Islands Raiders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Kearny Komets on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Raiders.

Gavin Marin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Marin wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cesar Jimenez, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Channel Islands now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Kearny, they moved to 6-12 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Channel Islands will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Komets: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
