Basketball Recap: Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers vs. Carolina Academy Trojans

The Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers were handed a three-point defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against the Carolina Academy Trojans on Friday. Blue Ridge blew past the Trojans 62-40. That 22 point margin sets a new team best for Blue Ridge this season.

Blue Ridge was led to victory by Nash Somero and Nicklaus Poole. Somero scored 17 points along with eight assists and four steals, while Poole dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Somero has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 12 times he's played. Paul Bishop was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.

Blue Ridge has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-14 record this season. As for Carolina Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-16.

Blue Ridge will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Carolina Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against the Centurions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Broome knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully the Trojans like a good challenge.
