Volleyball Recap: Isabella Garcia's Big Game Can't Quite Lead West Mesa over St. Michael's + How To Watch

West Mesa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the St. Michael's Horsemen, falling 3-0. If the Mustangs were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Horsemen when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-20, 25-16.

West Mesa's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isabella Garcia, who had 15 assists and seven digs. Garcia has been hot, having posted 13 or more assists the last eight times she's played. Kianna Joe was another key player, getting five blocks.

Among those leading the charge was Ava Cola, who had eight digs and three assists.

West Mesa's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for St. Michael's, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Mesa will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on La Cueva at 6:00 p.m. on the 16th. As for St. Michael's, they will head out to challenge Valley at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
