Overland is 9-1 against Arapahoe since February of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Overland Trailblazers will look to defend their home court against the Arapahoe Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Overland is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.1 points per game this season.
Last Wednesday, Overland came up short against Smoky Hill and fell 64-54. The Trailblazers have struggled against the Buffaloes recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their loss, Overland saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Mehki Mcneal, who posted 12 points and five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Tj Manuel, who scored 12 points.
Even though they lost, Overland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Arapahoe faced Eaglecrest in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. Arapahoe took a 55-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eaglecrest. It was the first time this season that the Warriors let down their fans at home.
Like Arapahoe, they lost despite seeing results from several players. Ryan Pramenko led the charge by putting up 14 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Wesley Foa, who had seven points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.
Arapahoe's defeat dropped their record down to 15-5. As for Overland, their loss dropped their record down to 8-12.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Overland has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.5 boards per game. However, it's not like Arapahoe struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.3 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Overland came out on top in a nail-biter against Arapahoe in their previous matchup back in January, sneaking past 68-66. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Arapahoe's Miles McMonigle, who went 10-for-16 to rack up 28 points.
