Football Recap: Brayden Tibbetts' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fort Bend Christian Academy over Lutheran South Academy

If Fort Bend Christian Academy was riding high fresh off their 48-14 takedown of Kelly Catholic two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The contest between the Eagles and the Lutheran South Academy Pioneers didn't end well, with the Eagles falling 35-18. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pioneers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brayden Tibbetts, who threw for 293 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 35 yards and one score. A healthy portion of Tibbetts' aerial production (93 yards to be exact) went to Dylan Cooper, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lutheran South Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carson Rocha, who rushed for 124 yards and one TD while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Rocha was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 52 yards. Luke Mazur also deserves some recognition as he hauled in his first receiving touchdowns of the season.

Fort Bend Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Lutheran South Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Bend Christian Academy will welcome Second Baptist at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lutheran South Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against The Woodlands Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pioneers will need to watch out since the Warriors have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
