Basketball Recap: McEwen Gets the Win

McEwen proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 21) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Houston County Fighting Irish 53-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Warriors have posted since February 16, 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Houston County lost, don't look at Casen Clark. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 14 on his way to 22 points and five boards. Hagan Honeycutt was another key player, putting up seven points and six assists.

McEwen is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.2 points per game. As for Houston County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McEwen will face off against Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Houston County has already played their next game (against McKenzie), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
