Softball Recap: Dover Comes Up Short

Dover was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Winnacunnet Warriors. The Green Wave were not able to make up for their loss to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

Mackenzie Curry and Kaitlyn Jolicoeur stepped up to the plate in a big way. Curry went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Jolicoeur went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That RBI was Curry's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brooke Jolicoeur, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Dover's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Winnacunnet, they pushed their record up to 7-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Dover will square off against rival Londonderry at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Green Wave 4, the Lancers 1.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Winnacunnet is set to challenge their familiar foe Bishop Guertin at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
