Football Recap: Burnet Comes Up Short

Burnet fell victim to Stephenville and their airtight defense on Friday. They were outmatched by the Yellow Jackets/Honeybees and fell 49-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Bulldogs were not able to get on the board.

Fisher Powell threw for 60 yards on nine of 14 attempts. Calan Syphrett was his top target, picking up 35 receiving yards. On the ground, Peyton Lopez rushed for 64 yards.

Burnet is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7. As for Stephenville, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Burnet will head out on the road to take on Andrews at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last. As for Stephenville, they will take on Pecos at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Yellow Jackets/Honeybees will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.7 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
